It’s come to this. We all knew this was going to happen eventually. After new FAA regulations, drones have been incorporated into the construction industry.
This report from KHOU Houston shows video of drones flying around downtown Houston. This is not the work of a local hobby group, however, these are professional drones used by Austin Commercial, to survey the area, and take pictures of the work area in high definition. Austin Commercial is one of the few companies that has teamed with Autodesk, a software company based in California, to bring drones to construction workflow.
Drones have been slowly incorporated into many other industries. And with the construction industry as prominent as ever, it’s surprising this fusion has not happened sooner. We cannot see anything but an immediate increase in efficiency for all companies that employ the use of Drones. Austin Commercial is already seeing a cut in costs, and a quicker timetable for the project.
As for Discount Lift Rentals, we have no plans to use drones...yet. It would be great to imagine a drone dropping off a 40’ boom lift rental to a construction site - but I think that might just be me.
